The Review

My very first review of the year and I am so glad that I started off with this series which I have been wishing to conclude for a while now.
So let’s start from where we left off, if you haven’t read the previous books then please stop right now….. spoiler alert!
Karl Corsi is dead, Augustine has reappeared with a sinister plan, Sebastian is in a cage being transported to goodness knows where and Josephine is caught between saving her guardian and her duty to her clan.

What did I think?
This book has by far one of the best in the series as it was charged with a lot of raw emotion and action. Sebastian’s strength is showcased in such a cool way that even I was willing him to keep going despite the odds.
Favorite characters in this book 3 were Ezzie, she was just a boss with how she was kicking butt and yes you guessed it! Hugo. Big burly tattooed gypsy that is not afraid of anything.
Characters I was irritated with were Katie…. need I say more. At some moments I wanted to scream, I was wishing she would die so I don’t have to deal with her non-stop talking.
The pace of the book was just right and also some unexpected and surprising twists and turns that had me flipping pages even faster to get to the end. I finished this book at 2am because I couldn’t sleep without finding out the end. Josephine was the only character that I kinda loved and hated at the same time. I wanted her to be more ballsy especially when it came to Quentin and the things he said and did.

Anyway such a fantastic series, I hope to read more from this author in the near future, if you love dragons and mythical creature then this is one for you.

Eli willed his sword away. It disappeared behind his back, just the way I would have done it. “You know nothing. Nothing about me is human. I won’t be a part of something that could kill any one of you.”

“How could it kill us if—?” Then I had a thought, recalling the first time I’d seen him in the cafeteria. I had no evidence but it was worth the shot. “You can astral travel, can’t you? You’ve done it before, when you first saw me in the cafeteria. You can travel in the present too. That’s why you took off.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you even know what that is?” His jaw clenched.

I knew he was lying. “Out-of-body experience.” I followed behind him when he started walking away.

“You have no idea of the consequences when you travel. Astral travel.”

“Then let it be my consequence.”

Eli whipped around. His face was just a breath away from mine. “You have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Then show me.”

Eli pierced his eyes into mine. His heart drummed a mile a minute. “You want to feel pain, Lucia? You want to know what happens to people when they astral travel?”

“I-I—” I didn’t know what to say. I certainly didn’t expect him to say the things he did.

Eli extended his arm to me. “Take my hand.”

“No.”

“Take my hand, Lucia.” His tone was stern.

I shook my head.

“Last warning.”

“Last warning for—ELI.” I screamed. My stomach dropped, along with my body. Eli’s arms embraced me as we plunged through multiple layers of clouds with my back facing down. Hair whipped my face and the force of gravity made me dizzy.

“You didn’t heed my warning, Lucia,” Eli grumbled.

“So you’re trying to kill me?” The normal reaction for someone in this situation would be to fight back, but my instincts told me I wasn’t in danger. “What are you doing?” The clouds got smaller as we plummeted faster by the second. I began to have second thoughts. Wanting to believe so badly I could get through to him, I’d let it possibly cost my life.

He ignored my plea. Looking squarely in my eyes as air rushed against us, he said nonchalantly, “Get ready to die.”

Witches, Warlocks, magic and a formidable villain, what more do you need from an awesome fantasy story?
The story centers around Fionnuala or Finn. She has just turned 16 and lives with her mom. Life of a teenager seems pretty mundane for her as it seems she just has 2 friends and is a bit of a social outcast.
Everything is normal until she meets Eamon, the new kid. He doesn’t seem friendly but also for some reason she seems drawn to him. Soon everything seems to be falling apart, her mom is missing and someone is after her plus she just found out she is a witch. In search of answers, she follows Eamon to Maine where her family coven lives and soon Finn makes some shocking discoveries about who she is and if she can truly trust the people around her.

What did I think? I absolutely loved reading this book! No word of a lie, I was pretty sad when it finished and now I need to get my hands on book 2 to find out what happens.
The plot is pretty solid, with bits of new revelations here and there and there was one piece of info I kind of thought of that I would like to confirm in the next book.
I liked the characters although a lot of them came across pretty insensitive towards Finn, which is understandable due to the volume of testosterone in the coven.
I thought Eamon was cute with his macho exterior, but we know he is like a marshmallow on the inside. I am not a fan of keeping information from the rightful owners so I was pretty upset with the way they were drip feeding Finn information about her heritage.
Also, I found Finn a bit frustrating, then again what more do you get from a 16-year-old. I do like that she can stand her ground, though.
Carmac sounds like a villain I would like, all the other characters in the story just seemed like background noise. It might have been better if they weren’t there.
Overall it was a great fun read, I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

The Review

SO if you have been reading my reviews you will know I have been waiting for this book to be released for a while. I just want to see how it all ends.

So for me the things I am looking forward to most in this book are

1. Why can’t Dr Nagi just die? (Ah well, he is the villain isn’t he and a formidable one at that)

2. Lots more swoon moments with Altair (who is just my dream guy)

And everything else that follows you know the fall of the seligo and all that.

To be honest the author did not fail to impress me with this one. This one by far was more action packed and fast paced, I really enjoyed how it was going. I love that the spotlight just remains on Altair and Quanta and being able to see things from their own perspectives is a plus. I really enjoyed the development in Tair and Quanta’s relationship.

A fun packed read that trully does not disappoint. I look forward to a lot more from this author.

The Review

So this will actually be my first 5-star review for the year.
Special thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this awesome title.
The story centers around 17year old Ben, he is about to be sectioned due to a failed suicide attempt. His family cannot understand why he doesn’t want to live. Ben blames himself for his father’s death and so he falls into despair and depression escaping his guilt when he accidentally wakes up in a gray world where there is no color and of course no more pain.

Top Ten Tuesday : Top Ten Most Unique Books I have read

First off I really don’t get to read a lot of unique books, but i have come across a few that have left certain impressions on me. I struggled to get 10 books because I have been too busy reading YA I need to branch out and just read more abstract stuff.  And I’m a bit lazy today as I didn’t include the book covers.(I know I’m a bit off my game, desperately playing catch up)

1. Ghana Must go by Taiye Selasi
This is such as an awesome story. A bit slow at the beginning but such a moving narration of events that can alter your life forever. Highly recommended
2. Alive by Chandler Baker
I thought this was your typical YA book, but it was one of those that was just eerily creepy. Felt like I stepped into a scary movie, a bit dark but it highlights the fact that some things are better left unknown.
3. Diva by Carrie Duffy
I read this book a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. Maybe because it tells how the world of showbiz and celebrity lifestyles is not a walk in the park.
4. Bond girl by Erin Duffy
I really loved this book. Two reasons, a strong female lead and also the fact that she was kicking ass in Wall street which can be so full of testosterone.
5. Tuesday’s with Morrie by Mitch Albom
This is an all time fave of mine. I can re-read this book over and over again. So many life lessons and advice you can apply to your life.
6. Crazy for Alice by Alex Dunn
This was a spur of the moment read. I haven’t even reviewed it yet but it was just such an awesome book. I liked that it addressed mental health issues and how sometimes all we need is someone to give a crap about what we are going through or what we are trying to say.
7. The Hybrid by Venue Morales
Debut YA paranormal story with amazing characters. The female lead was just a bad ass and I really wish the author would send me book 2.
8. The Midnight sea by Kat Ross
I never like historical fiction but this one was different. I like that the main characters were not your typical Adonis and Aphrodite, They were just 2 ordinary people with disabilities doing extraordinary things with a lot of heart.
9. Dinner with a vampire by Abigail Gibbs
A fun paranormal YA story, actually it was pretty dark and a bit twisted when I think about it. But I remember enjoying it a lot for its weirdness. I mean who chooses to live with a vampire instead of your freedom?
10. The Five people you meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
Another stunning thought proving read by Mitch Albom. It makes you think about how the people in your live impact who you are. I can’t recommend it enough.

I don’t always read a lot of vampire books as they can a bit dry sometimes and the story lines are the same but this one grabbed my interest from the start.
The story centers around Lorena, she is a twin and is living some semblance of a normal life except her boyfriend is a vampire. And due to that, she is brought before the vampire council and their Leader Primus for questioning.
In the midst of it all, she realizes that she is part of something a lot bigger than she imagined. Lorena is part of a prophecy and the only person who can get her through it is a vampire named Paul. Racing against time and the vampire council it’s up to Paul and Lorena with the help of God to fulfill the prophecy that will redeem all flatliners.

Ramblings: Top 5 Manga Series I Have to Own

If anyone had asked me a year ago or even 6 months ago if I liked manga I would have given you the “are you crazy?” look. And to be honest I kind of stumbled on it some random day and to be honest I have never looked back. I have cheated though and wanted a few that are now series but nothing truly compares to reading the actual thing. I like a lot of lovey dovey stuff so you can imagine my surprise when I found out how addictive Shounen Manga is. So here are a list of my Top 5 manga series that I am looking forward to reading this 2017.

1. Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida

This one is just shamazing….. I can’t get enough of Tokyo Ghoul. I watched the anime but I find that it didn’t do the Manga enough justice. So I am going to read it all…..

What its about

 3. Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori

My list is never complete without some fun Shujo manga. I have been wanted to read this one and also I just noticed that the story line reads like something out of a K-drama.

The Review

It has been a while since I was seriously addicted to a series and I will be honest, this series is like a drug for me. I will be really sad when it is completely over because I just love it soo much.
S0…. a brief recap from the previous book, Elena is not a dragon (Surprised?) first a Thunderlight and now she is changing into a Rubicon just like Blake. Plus Lucian is dead and Elena just can’t seem to shake off the sadness she feels, the only comfort she feels is when Cara shows up (Don’t worry it will all make sense). Master Longwei has asked Blake to help Elena and even though she knows Blake hates her guts she can’t help but be drawn to him, especially when he is being nice.
Elena still knows that Lucian found out something that can help with the claiming of the Rubicon which is going to happen soon and she is determined to find out what it is but first she must find the Queen’s long-lost dragon.

What did I like? So back again for the 3rd book and I tell you it just keeps getting better. The story picks up from where book 2 left off, although we spend quite a bit of time reminiscing about Lucian (I sound like I don’t care right? but I really do). Elena started to get on my nerves a bit with her pity party, and I guess having the dragon Cara in the mix it made things a bit more fun.
I liked Blake better in this book, maybe because he just seemed a lot more gentle until he decides to self-destruct then things take a turn for the worse.
There is still a lot of information in the book which I thought was pretty pointless as it seemed to just fill in space. It was nice for Cheng to have a much bigger role, I think I like him…..
As usual, the author just plays with my emotions, because whenever I think I have the plot figured, she does the old switcheroo. There is soo much to this series that you can’t help but be entertained.
I loved the end of the book, that just means book 4 will be way way way better and I just can’t wait.
