#BTT : How Important is Social Media for Your Blog

Hey fellow bloggers! I wanted to start a new thing where I share some of my blogging tips.

I a not an expert but I do work as a digital marketeer in the real world. Do let me know if you have any blogging questions as I am also learning as I go along.

In this day and age, everyone is connecting with each other on social networks. So as a blogger I think it is pretty important for you to be clued up on the ins and outs of social media.
Some write ups I have read point out that a lot of traffic to your blog is primarily from social media. Obviously, the volume of traffic is dependent on your target audience.

Building your blog audience

I am focusing a lot on book blogs so I believe the social networks to focus on are
Facebooks, Pinterest and Instagram. Some bloggers use Twitter but, we have so much to say that 140 characters are not just going to cut it! Continue reading “#BTT : How Important is Social Media for Your Blog”

Ramblings: Top 5 Manga Series I Have to Own

If anyone had asked me a year ago or even 6 months ago if I liked manga I would have given you the “are you crazy?” look. And to be honest I kind of stumbled on it some random day and to be honest I have never looked back. I have cheated though and wanted a few that are now series but nothing truly compares to reading the actual thing. I like a lot of lovey dovey stuff so you can imagine my surprise when I found out how addictive Shounen Manga is. So here are a list of my Top 5 manga series that I am looking forward to reading this 2017.

1. Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida

This one is just shamazing….. I can’t get enough of Tokyo Ghoul. I watched the anime but I find that it didn’t do the Manga enough justice. So I am going to read it all…..

What its about

Shy Ken Kaneki is thrilled to go on a date with the beautiful Rize. But it turns out that she’s only interested in his body—eating it, that is. When a morally questionable rescue transforms him into the first half-human half-Ghoul hybrid, Ken is drawn into the dark and violent world of Ghouls, which exists alongside our own.

2. Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama

I binge watched the anime and I just have to find out how it all ends. So I’m off to read the manga. It is one super actionpacked epic series.

What its about

In this post-apocalytpic sci-fi story, humanity has been devastated by the bizarre, giant humanoids known as the Titans. Little is known about where they came from or why they are bent on consuming mankind. Seemingly unintelligent, they have roamed the world for years, killing everyone they see. For the past century, what’s left of man has hidden in a giant, three-walled city. People believe their 100-meter-high walls will protect them from the Titans, but the sudden appearance of an immense Titan is about to change everything.

 3. Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori

My list is never complete without some fun Shujo manga. I have been wanted to read this one and also I just noticed that the story line reads like something out of a K-drama. Continue reading “Ramblings: Top 5 Manga Series I Have to Own”

Ramblings: 15 things I have learned about #Bookstagram

Hey everyone, I am coming up to my 1 year anniversary from when I joined #bookstagram and I just thought it would be great to share what I have learned so far. Also if you are thinking of joining maybe some of the tips and things I have learned can help you.

1. It is a very welcoming community
Everyone there is lovely and you are bound to make a few good or even great friends that you can share your thoughts or fangirl obsession with.

2. Decide on what is important to you when you join.
What I mean by this is, are you there for the number of followers you can get or just there to make friends…

3. Find your inner theme creativity.
I struggled a lot with finding a theme and even after a year I can’t decide on what it should be. It just shows that my mind is a maze you don’t want to experience.

4. Don’t follow fellow bookstagrammers to gain a follow and then unfollow them later.
This is so uncool, you can’t imagine how annoying this thing is for me and for that reason I really stopped doing shout out for shout outs and instead I just follow accounts that I really love or even accounts that genuinely follow me. Ramblings : Happy 2017 and Reading Goals

Happy new year! I know it is already day 5 and I seem to be the last person to post anything 2017 related.
I initially wanted to do a post about my best books of 2016 but I think I missed the chance, besides I fell off the reading wagon towards the end of the year so I think we can leave it right there.

Let’s talk goals for 2017…… If you all remember, I failed my 2016 reading goal. I sort off fell into a mood and reading just wasn’t helping so I stopped and now with renewed vigor, I want to try it again.
So this year I will be re-trying my “100” books reading goal.(oh look I’m already behind schedule drat!!)

I am very ambitious this year and I hope to accomplish at least half of the targets and goals I set myself (both reading or other wise)

How many books are you reading this year?

“If you are on goodreads add me as a friend, I really want to also cheer you on as you take on your reading challenge. This year I really want to make more friends in the book world.”

Good luck!!!

Ramblings: The Christmas Bookish Gift Guide

Hey everyone! It’s that time of the year again, and if you are struggling with what to get your bookish loved one(s), then look no further. Here are my top 10 bookish gifts.

1. Books on Books on Books
This is by far the easiest way to satisfy a fussy book lover. Give them a book they have been obsessing about or even better just give gift vouchers so that they can make their own choice. This is a quick win and is sure to never fail!.

2. Bookish Mugs
I say books and tea/coffee are best friends (ok throw in hot chocolate too!) so of course this will make an excellent gift. If your bookish loved one is not a beverage lover, then its ok as there are many other uses for the mug. Check out these sellers for some awesome mugs

3. Buy a subscription box
These are becoming more and more popular in the bookish community and I am yet to chat to a book lover that does not love these. These boxes are usually themed with a selected book of the month and some other fun exclusive bookish goodies.

You can buy one off boxes or gift a subscription for your loved one and it is so super easy. Some of my favourite that offer one off subscriptions (These are UK based)

Ramblings: Five Reasons to Watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

I don’t usually do any movie reviews and I am not your typical over the top Harry Potter fan but, I recently went to the cinema and saw Fantastic Beasts and for a movie that was birthed from nothing (ie a text book to be used by Harry Potter) I think it was totally awesome. Here are my 5 top reasons why you need to go see it.

1. You get to go back into the awesome wizarding World
If you have been missing some magic in your life, then this is just what you need, I like that you don’t need to have seen the other Harry Potter movies or read to books to get into this movie.

2. The Beasts are truly fantastic
I loved all the beasts featured in the movie. Yep some were weird looking and to be honest I have no idea how they came up with the names for them or their characters but each one was unique and fun to watch.

3. Great story with a twist at the end.
A really great story that will keep you entertained from the start to finish. The cast and the characters are fun, exciting and you will want to watch them over and over again.

4. There is magic beyond Hogwarts
This story was set in the big apple instead of the usual London from the other Harry Potter stories and for me this shows that the wizarding world is beyond Hogwarts and London. Did you know they have their own School of Wizardry in the USA?

5. Makes you feel connected to the Harry Potter world
If you have been missing a dose of Harry Potter in your life, then don’t miss out on this movie. It is sure to give you a dose of the wizarding wold that you have been missing.

My favourite character in the movie was Jacob and my favourite beast by far was Niffler. You need to watch it to understand what I mean.

Have you watch it? and what did you think about it?

Ramblings: My Goodreads Challenge 2016 update

Hey, everyone, I know I have been absent from the book reading world for a bit. I have been dealing with quite a few personal issues and I suddenly lost the interest in reading. But now I am back to reading and sadly I don’t think I will be able to conquer my Goodreads challenge this year.

Where I am so far

So this leaves about 30 books that I still need to read. Will I be able to get there?

September : A Month Dedicated to all things Netgalley

Hiya! It’s been a really fast paced year, and I’m quite close to reaching my reading goal even though I seem to be on a book buying ban at the moment.
As much as I love holding and looking at beautiful books, I tend to prefer reading eBooks. I think it’s the convenience as I get to read it on my phone wherever I am.

That being said, I am a dedicated member of Netgalley and I get at least 80% of my eBooks from there.

Shout out to Netgalley for my newest badge for reaching 100 reviews

Even though I get a huge amount of my books from there I must admit I have not taken great care of my account and so this month and going forward I want to correct this.
Through Netgalley I have had the opportunity to discover some really awesome debut authors and really awesome genres of books.
As a blogger and book reviewer, I am really passionate about discovering new authors and stories because I know that there are so many amazing stories and authors out there especially with the explosion of the YA Genre.
So this September (and for the rest of the year), I am looking to spend more time on the Netgalley titles to help the authors and publishers that took a chance on approving my request to review their title(s) and of course, build up my Netgalley profile.

So let the reviewing begin!

August : The Month of Author Review Requests

Hey, everyone out there and most especially the lovely authors and publishers.
It is a brand new month! and I know as a blogger I sometimes get so busy with my full-time job that I never get to do everything I say I will do, which includes reading and reviewing your awesome books.
In the spirit of correcting that, I am commissioning August “Author Review Month”.
That means throughout August I intend to read and review all the author review requests I have received and not fulfilled.(This relates to all review requests I received before June 2016)
I want to apologize to the lovely authors I accepted arcs and eBooks from but still haven’t read them, I really wish I could read faster but not to worry this month I am dedicating it to that particular cause.
So in no particular order here is my August TBR list
