Werewolf princess Ashling Boru’s eighteenth birthday is only a year away, which means that she only has twelve months before she is claimed and fulfills her prophecy to unite the packs and lead her people. Her father decrees that her four suitors must fight in the Bloodrealms, the werewolves’ ancient underground fighting world, and the winner will have King Boru’s choice to win Ashling’s hand. The wolf laws are rigid and barbaric, and Ashling’s illicit love for Grey, if discovered, will mean his death. But when Ashling and Grey get trapped in the blood-soaked depths of the Bloodrealms, they find ancient horrors far greater than Ashling’s father’s rule.

With betrayal around every corner and old nemeses set to destroy Ashling, she is more divided than ever between the destiny she didn’t choose and the love that she did. To make matters worse, her decision will not only set the course of her future, but the future of her entire race.

The Review

*Thank you to Wise Ink publishing and the author for this amazing book.

When I finished reading book 1 I was scared to read book 2 because I just don’t want to deal with the wait for book 3. So if you thought book 1 was great book 2 left me breathless. At every turn in this book I was on the edge of my seat, holding my breath.

Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off. Adomnan is dead and even though that is true Ashling is still haunted by dreams of her abduction. She does a good job oh hiding it, plus with Grey by her side and in his arms she is indestructible. But first Ashling must return home and when she does instead of getting know Brychan that she was promised to, her father chooses to allow other suitors to ask for her hand. With four suitors of which one is Eamon (Adomnan’s) brother, they must all take turns to court Ashling and go to the bloodrealms to fight for her hand. As they prepare for the fight Ashling is not prepared for the amount of betrayal she meets at every corner when they enter the bloodreams and when she is trapped in the blood soaked underworld for what seems like a lifetime she is surprised by the truths she uncovers. With little strength left in her she must relay on old mother to help her make the right decision’s.

What did I like? This book was just epic! I know is use these phrases a lot but you just have to read it to know exactly what I mean. The book started off slow with the courting and all that but it picked up pace soo quick I was tongue tied by the events. I really, really liked Brychan and I was rooting for him but to be honest I absolutely love Grey. And even though he and Ashling were reckless now and again nothing prepared me for the rush of emotion and worry I felt when they got trapped in the bloodrealm. The fact that Verci and Vidgis even made an appearance made the story soo much more complicated. Towards the end after all Ashling endured when she spoke to the pack and the bloodsuckers there seemed to be a certain level of maturity and wisdom in her words as she finally accepts the prophecy of being the crimson queen. The book ended on a slight downer but I just know that book 3 will be explosive. Go on give this series a try you wont be disappointed.
