Aidan Montgomery hadn’t been prepared for Amelia Bradbury to walk in and then out of his life. He also hadn’t expected to find the powerful magic hidden deep within him for the last nineteen years, but he’s embracing it — finding more control and more answers every day. Now, with the help of Amelia’s best friend, Bethany, Aidan is on a quest to understand his destiny and find Amelia.

Amelia decided to stand by her duty, which meant walking away from her first chance at love. Trapped in Cresthaven at the Queen’s mercy, she spends her days with Micah — an ally she still holds at arm’s length — struggling to manage her heartbreak while keeping her mind focused on the task at hand. As she continues to unlock the secrets of the Keeper power, Queen Julia’s true motives reveal themselves, forcing Amelia to decide, yet again, how much she’s willing to sacrifice.

Will Aidan get to Amelia before it’s too late, or will the very power that sustains them keep them apart?

The Review

Ok I’m seriously hooked on this series that I just have to find out where book 2 leads. What I really like is the fact that book 2 picks up where book one ends. And what was also nice was that we were seeing the story from Amelia and Aiden’s POV. This gives an insight how their paths and thoughts cross over.

If you recall Amelia chose to do her duty over what her heart wanted leaving Aiden heartbroken. But Beth doesn’t let Aiden wallow as she starts to give him the full story about what happened to Amelia. This lets Aiden know he must fight to save Amelia but first he needs to know more about his powers, how he can control them and also what happens to him when he changes into a wolf.

Bethany then helps Aiden locate the group of Animages in the forest which brings about more revelations on who Aiden really is and the fact that someone placed a spell on him which needs to broken in order to save Amelia.

Meanwhile Micha tries desperately to prepare Amelia for whatever plans the Queen has in store for her. And as more revelations are brought to light, Amelia knows without a doubt she needs to be able to temper her powers and stop the Queen.

What did I like? I have been reading a lot of fantasy but this one was almost hypnotizing. From the first page until the last. Amelia I felt was plenty stubborn in this book. I wanted to just shake her and my darling Aiden was just soo super understanding and patient with her (*swoon*). I mean I already clocked that she and Aiden needed to be together but she was just so super blind.

Book 2 helped to understand a lot about the bigger picture on what happened to Amelia’s father and hopefully Aiden can learn something about who his parents where. The Queen had a lot of dramatics in this one, and her ideas were just absurd. The fact that she is still queen brings a lot of questions. It was nice to get to understand and know about Micah and how her grew up. Rhi on the other hand is just a sadistic man, hope he dies slowly.  I can’t wait to read the final part of the trilogy as I know it will be epic on every level.
