Skylar Tempest has never understood Alec Hunter’s appeal. So what if he’s a world-renowned historian? He’s also cynical, aloof and determined to think the worst of her. So when a twist of fate finds her spending the lead-up to Christmas with Alec and his family, she’s not expecting the season to be either merry or bright.
Alec has learned the hard way not to trust beautiful women—and Skylar is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. But as he watches her throw herself into his family’s festive chaos, Alec realises there is far more to this blonde bombshell than meets the eye.
With Christmas around the corner, Alec and Skylar return to Puffin Island, a tentative bond forged between them. Neither intends to fall in love but as the nights become darker, and the fire between them grows hotter, could this be the chance for Alec and Skylar to find their own happy ending?
I just want to say that since I started this Christmas TBR list I have loved every single book and this one was just as breathtaking as the others. Actually I’m lying, I liked this one a lot more. This is my first Sarah Morgan book and because I just love her writing style so much, I think she has a new fan. I will seek out more of her books and delve into the world of romance.
This is a stunning story about family, friendships and finding love unexpectedly. Skylar feels like such a disappointment to her family because she chose to pursue her dream and do what it is that she loves. The only people who supported her dream are her best friends on Puffin Island. The only thing she seems to have done right was date Richard an upcoming politician who her parents approve of. When things go pear shaped at Skylar’s between them London exhibition, it is Alec who is there to help Skylar. Skylar has never liked Alec and it seems the feeling is mutual from Alec’s point of view. But when they are in situation where it seems Skylar needs Alec’s help, Alec starts to see that he may have misjudged Skylar all this time. When Alec takes Skylar home with him to his family for Christmas, Skylar makes some discoveries about him that she never knew and she understands more clearly why Alec is the way he is.
After a Christmas with a lot of nakedness, Alec asks Skylar to return to puffin Island with him and soon what seemed like a friendship with benefits begins to develop into something more that none of them expected or bargained for.
What did I like? This book made me laugh and smile, I actually enjoyed reading the book from start to finish. And I liked the issues it touched on, that your family might not always approve of your career choices but its your happiness and state of mind that is more important. Also don’t be afraid to express that to your parents, it made me appreaciate the kind of relationship I have with my parents. I loved Alec’s family and the friends on Puffin Island. The story goes to show that you can find love where you least expect it. A really great end to the story. Christmas just got even better with this book.
