Synopsis

Katalina Winter was prepared for life to change when she turned eighteen—but she never expected to actually change.

Learning that her birth parents were purebred wolf shifters is shocking enough. Now she’s expected to take her place in their unfamiliar world. Caught between two warring packs, Katalina must learn fast. One pack, led by the father she has only just met, wants to control her—and the other one wants her dead.

However, there is one bright spot to shifting, and his name is Bass Evernight. Tall, dark, and oh-so-handsome, Bass is the wolf that Katalina craves. He’s also strictly forbidden: a member of Dark Shadow, Bass is the son of her father’s mortal enemy. Yet deep down inside, Katalina’s new primal instincts howl that Bass is her mate. Can their love bring an end to the brutal war that has raged for so long, or will it spark the fighting around them into an all-consuming fire?

The Review

This book in 2 words…. Absolutely Amazing!!! I must admit that I like reading about wolves, the fact that they can be such daring and feral is really exciting. And add in a bit of romance you have an awesome mix. So when I read the synospsis of this book, I knew it would be a great read.

The story opens with Katalina Winter heading home on the night of her 18th birthday with her foster parents and suddenly their car was surrounded and attached by a pack of wolves. Katalina is saved by a young wolf and his brother and is taken to an unknown location. When she comes to she starts to learn that she is the child of parents who are our bred shifters and her father who she never knew is still alive and is the Alpha of a pack that is constantly at war with a rival pack. As she is now caught in the middle of it all, Katalina can help but want to escape this nightmare and return to her life where her adopted family is but in the midst of it all she meets Bass. He is like a shinning light to her in all the darkeness around her, but he is the son to the Alpha in the rival pack and her fathers mortal enemy. Even through every thing happening around them Bass and Katalina are determined to be together no matter what even if it means going against their parents to end the brutal war.

I enjoyed the characters in this story which doesn’t always happen in a book. Usually one character annoys the heck out of me. I liked Katalina, she was a bit naïve but it was understandable with what she had been through. I liked that she was not whiny or annoying. I particularly liked her fighting spirit especially towards the end when she yelled at Bass. Bass, was just as sexy as I would like my own dream man to be. He exuded strength and love in ways I don’t think any real life can, but this is a book right. I really liked Toby, her reminded me of my own baby brother (well he isn’t a baby anymore) annoying yet great company.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Katalina and Bass develop, even though he had his desires he didn’t try to rush Katalina and it just shows that if a man respects you and loves you he will be patient and will be understanding no matter what you are going through. One thing Katalina always knew was that no matter what she had Bass.

I simply adored this story, I could read it again and again and will still love it like the first time.
