Synopsis

Lil isn’t just an average teenager. She’s one of the Nephilim–the descendants of humans and angels–which gives her some serious psi skills and a mission for redemption.

Just when Lil thinks she’s found a balance between her normal life with human friends and her training to become a Guardian, she’s warned that someone close to her will betray her. When the boy she loves starts acting strangely and one of her human friends acquires a supernatural ability, Lil begins to realize that someone is manipulating the people she loves… and won’t stop until she’s been lured to the dark side.

The Review

I saw this cover and even though I love all things relating to angels I was a bit skeptical about this one. Although once I started the book I just couldn’t stop reading it even into the early hours of the morning, I just had to know how the book would end.

I didn’t realize this was actually the 2nd book in the series or rather that there is a prequel to read before this. The book is written in a way that you can read it on its one and still enjoy the story.

The book is about Lilith who is a Nephilim, well a bit of her is demon and she is a cardinal guardian. She is also the chosen one, that is the most powerful Cardinal guardian who will one day unite all the Nephilim.

The book opens with a snap shot from when the Kris Dagger chose Lilith and together with her grandfather and friends were able to destroy Coronis, the biggest demon baddie of them all. So fast forward to present day and everything is great, Lilith has school and teenage angst to deal with and the best boyfriend in the world, Bran. Bran and Lil and what you can Alrunes or soulmates and together they a unstoppable until one day Lil get a call from her father “Valafar”. Valafar was Coronosis’ second on command so he is just bad news. And soon he is planting seeds of doubt in Lilith that is causing her to question a lot of what is happening around her. And the worst part is that Bran is hiding something from her and wont tell her about it which is driving her crazy. She will do anything to help Bran so she doesn’t lose him, even if it means asking help from her father Valafar. Its up to Lil and her friends to find a way to stop what ever plans Valafar has and help Bran no matter the cost.

What did I like? I loved absolutely everything about this book. The plot for book was solid and hooks you in from the first page. The characters were great fun. I liked Sykes a lot, he has such a big mouth. I didn’t care for Izzy or Kim but they made it all colourful. Remy was a bit dry as he was always acting all grown up.

I noticed it is not a small book to read but I didn’t want it to end. The book had just the right amount of everything. I liked the fight scenes or when Lilith was showing that she is a badass to Leather face. I liked Bran’s character, his cool persona was just breathtaking in most parts of the book. I definitely was to keep reading this story as long as the sequels can rival this book. This author just got a serious fan! Definitely without a doubt 5 amazing stars from me!
