Allison McKready is a succubus. So is her twin sister. But while Allison spends her summer break hiding in the library behind her Goth makeup, Jade fools around as often as she can. Allison can’t believe Jade would ignore their mother’s fatal example so recklessly, but concealing a cursed bloodline and its dangerous effects is far from Allison’s only problem. Mean girl Julie’s snob mob is determined to ruin her summer, and Aunt Sarah’s Bible thumping is getting louder. Only her new friend, Ren Fisher, offers safe haven from the chaos of her life.
When one of Jade’s risky dates leads to humiliation and sudden tragedy, Allison reels, and Ren catches her. But as her feelings for him grow, so does her fear that she’ll hurt him—or worse—in an unguarded moment. The choice is coming—love him or save him—but Allison might not live to make it. One way or another, the curse will have its due.

The Review

In the last few weeks I took a break from reading because the books I came across did not just seem interesting enough. Then I stumbled on this and thought, “Hey, I’ve got some time. Lets read this, it might be good.” Was I right, well not exactly. This story was predictable and a bit unrealistic in my opinion. But I know what you are thinking, it is a fantasy story! Alright, alright I will give it to you there.  I don’t like doing negative reviews or slamming the work of an author, because like a painting writing a book is art. Some might love it and others might not. So that is the reason for the 3 star rating.

So back to the book, The story is about Allison and her twin sister Jade, they are born into a curse that has followed their female bloodline for generations. Being a female succubi and working for the devil is not what every young female aspires to. In order to not give into the demands of the curse Allison decides she is better off hiding from it and the world around her. But her twin sister has other ideas; she chooses to be more adventurous.

Because their mother died they have chosen to live with their mothers twin sister whose bible thumping leaves a lot to be desired for the girls. Allison then meets Ren and slowly their friendship begins to grow although Allison must be careful because the curse could kill Ren if she does not control her desires. And when tragedy strikes Ren is the only person she can turn to especially when she discovers some thing that could take her away from the only family she has ever known. I won’t give any spoilers as I want you to read the book yourself and find out.

What did I love about this book? Well I liked Ren, I enjoyed seeing how his relationship with Allison grew.

What I didn’t like? The story moved too slowly, at some point I was about to give up on it because is seemed not much was happening. I thought it was also very predictable and I expected that there would be much more of a background to the curse, if I was told I had a curse on my life `I would research that bad boy and find loopholes and not just hide under lots of makeup. Ah well teenagers right?

In all it was an entertaining read, it was left like there could be a book 2 but what would book 2 really be about?
