He will give her everything she’s ever wanted . . .
Jack Powell’s confidence is matched only by his intensity. The darkness in him comes from years of secrets and memories he’d rather forget. Lana has an exotic innocence that draws him in and Jack wants a taste of her. She’s a light in the darkness of his world – and she needs help, which he agrees to.
The only rule? He makes the rules.
Lana gives up her control, letting Jack take her body however he needs, while she works her way into his heart. But Jack’s past catches up to them and Lana finds herself wrapped up in a scheme that will expose every secret she’s worked so hard to keep. She clung to Jack once when her world was crashing down, but this time, she loves him. She’ll continue to reach for him – her only fear is if he’ll reach back, or go on his way, taking her soul with him . . .
When I saw this book and saw the synopsis I though why not, because there aren’t enough smutty books out there in the world.
The story revolves around Jack and Lana, both have a bit of darkness from their pasts that they would just rather forget although when their worlds collide there is little they can do to hold it all in. Jack is drawn to Lana’s innocence and as a man used to having control he convinces Lana to give up here to him. Lana is reluctant but over time she realizes just how deeply she is falling for Jack. But her rocky relationship with her father, stepmother and stepbrother unravels things about her past she would rather Jack didn’t know. Would Jack still love her if her know the truth about her?
To be honest this wasn’t such a bad story, I quite liked the pace and the fact that it wasn’t nearly as BDSMish (you know what I mean) as most of the other books most authors try to spin.
It had lots and lots of steam that was charged with a certain amount of affection and not just random sex. For me it felt like the story was believable. It was actually a sweet love story in a strange kinda way. I don’t understand why Cal is even in the picture, is he there to complicate matters?
I love Jack he reminded me of someone…. Every woman loves a man with power that can command the attention of people without trying or even so command our attention without even breaking a sweat. Lana’s father was like a leech, cant believe a father could ever be that way to his own flesh and blood.
The author did a fantastic job with this book as it kept me wanting more especially with the way it ended. I am keen to discover how the rest of the story will unfold. The writing is to the point and without a lot of the faff that I read in most of the books.
